Bala Cynwyd, PA, January 23, 2008 RESolutions Consulting in association with Deluca Homes has announced that they have been selected as a finalist for the IBM Lotus Award in the Mid-Market category for the 13th annual IBM Lotus Awards.
The IBM Lotus Awards recognize exceptional IBM PartnerWorld members that specialize in Lotus software solutions and have excelled at providing quality products, innovative solutions and superior services to customers.
RESolutions a Premier IBM Business Partner, in association with DeLuca Homes of Yardley Pennsylvania, have created a Lotus Notes/Domino based solution which enables defect identification, tracking, and correction of their newly built Deluca homes. The application allows for DeLuca Homes to manage their defect discovery, tracking, and correction process. When a DeLuca home is built and inspected, all defects are recorded electronically on a Tablet PC. This information is then replicated for approval and correction. This application enables Deluca Home to track defects in their homes as well as the defect resolution process. The information collected is also used by Deluca to track metrics, thus score-carding the contractors used to build the Deluca Homes. As a result, the quality of homes that Deluca build has increased while overall defects have decreased.
Having detailed product quality measurements allows DeLuca Homes to track product quality by house, model, community, and by subcontractor. Providing feedback to the organization allows us to achieve higher customer satisfaction with the products we deliver. In addition it is a powerful tool in measuring the quality workmanship provided by our business partners which is useful in training, bidding, and overall vendor satisfaction. The Lotus solution from RESolutions has helped DeLuca dramatically increase productivity and significantly improve collaboration.
A DeLuca Homes quality inspector or construction manager performs an inspection with a tablet PC containing a local replica of a community inspection database. When the inspection form is created, information about the community, lot, and customer is imported from the application’s reference database. This database is updated nightly using JDBC to pull information from DeLuca’s construction management application (IHMS).
Each night, defect information is exported to a SQL Server database, where it is accessed by QlikView to display reports of defects by lot, community, and/or vendor. This intelligence is used by executives to reward vendors and construction managers for quality work and to isolate those that are problematic in order to raise their level of quality or replace them. It also provides information about consistent problems with home models or communities that can be rectified before more homes are constructed with the same problems.
