HR Applicant Tracking for a National Engineering and Construction Firm
Business Problem:
A national engineering and construction company required a centralized and automated method of storing and tracking employee applications. The goal was to reduce interoffice paper routing and provide a way to monitor the application process from start to finish. There were additional needs to also track applicants that were hired as they moved through the employee training, orientation, and health evaluation process.
Solution:
RESolutions Consulting developed a multi-database Lotus Notes application that automated the process of collecting and routing application information to the appropriate personnel and managers within the company.
System functionality included:
The database, forms, and workflow for posting job descriptions and grades that could be maintained by people not involved in the hiring process. The database, forms, and workflow for collecting applications and setting up interviews. The database, forms, and workflow for tracking the status of new employees through the orientation process.
Return on Investment (ROI):
The following is a partial list of the ROI achieved by the engineering company:
- The distribution of resumes is now controlled by the HR department, avoiding end runs by field managers
- Interview schedules are better coordinated, allowing candidates to interview with multiple managers on a single visit
- The flow of an application can easily be monitored throughout the review process
- Hard copies of resumes no longer get lost or held up from circulation by field managers
